9-page introductory text on the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince and its parishes, churches, chapels, cemeteries, and congregations, followed by 32 full-page plates from photographs depicting important Catholic sites around the city, including exterior and interior views of the old cathedral, the new cathedral, and churches and chapels including Sainte Anne, St. Joseph, Sacre Coeur de Turgeau, and St. Francis of Assisi, a procession for the Feast of Corpus Christi, the tomb of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the Petit Séminaire Collège Saint-Martial, the Institution Saint-Louis de Gonzague, the Saint-Joseph de Cluny boarding school, the Saint-François-de-Sales hospice, and the Madeleine orphanage. Some very minor scattered foxing, ink notation to title page. Small oblong 8vo. Orig. wrpps. with lithographed illustration to front cover. Some soiling, toning, and foxing to covers. N.p. (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) n.d. (circa 1912). The devastating earthquake of 2010 caused severe damage to many of the buildings in Port-au-Prince pictured here. The prized "new" cathedral, built between 1884 and 1914 and dedicated in 1928, was completely destroyed. Other structures suffering serious damage include the churches of Sacre Coeur de Turgeau and Sainte-Anne. As of February 2018, WorldCat locates three holdings in North American institutions.
