2 sheets with manuscript index, showing a list of various weaving mills, a short description of their goods (mostly in French with German intersperses), date and page index, (24) unnumb. pages and 340 numbered pages (recte 341) with thousands of fabric samples pasted recto and verso on pink sheets of paper. Each sample with manuscript numbering and numerous samples with pricing in FS (= Franc Suisse). Cont. black cloth binding. Manuscript paper label to spine "No. 26 – 10491-23441". 4 ties, one of which is lacking. Folio (570 x 395 mm). Joints cracked, covers still holding, extremeties worn.
A fine catalogue of a Swiss wholesale trader in embroidered fabrics and in lace, with a manuscript list of weaving mills that had designed and produced the fabrics, which is exceptionally rare to find. A few names of weaving mills mentioned: Lindenmann & Höhener ; Gebr. Giger ; Leonhard Graf ; J. Ullr. Eisenhut ; Joh. Zürcher ; August, Emil and J. J. Bischoffberger ; Gebr. Holler ; Leonhard Rohner ; J. U. Sutter ; J. C. Diehm among others. This comprehensive catalogue contains a rich assortment of coloured and white muslin samples embroidered with colourful floral and ornamental designs, and numerous white lace samples. Front margins of leaves minimally frayed and discoloured. Samples in excellent overall condition.
