About This Item

Artline, 1990. First American Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+/Fine. Dürer, Albrecht. Stunning compilation of Dürer's woodcuts, spurred by recent scientific developments that have led to the discovery of new works & to the reclassification of works previously attributed to the artist, but actually created by others. Included are his various series (The Small Passion, The Apocalypse, etc), single sheets, & book illustrations Introduction by Andre Duguer, with a Complete Index of Woodcuts newly revised by Dr. Monika Heffels. Translated from the German by Lilian Stephany, this is the FIRST US EDITION, First Printing, in 251 pages. Oversized (folio) hardcover has soft gray cloth-covered boards with black woodcut design to front/lettering to spine. Extremely tight & clean, images crisp, pages white. NO writing/underlining/highlighting; not ex-lib. Condition is downgraded to VG+ due to these flaws: 1) light foxing to external page edges,2) page 111 has a small tear to fore edge (does not impact image there); 3) light smudges to endpapers, 4) light musty smell. The unclipped DJ is truly Fine: virtually flawless & beautifully protected in new mylar cover to stay that way! Please see our photos--they show the EXACT book you will receive from us--never, "stock" images of books we don't actually have on hand! Description & photos property of Gargoyle Books. Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); Weekends & holidays ship next business day. Sorry: book is too large for expedited domestic or any international shipping without approval of additional postage (at least double per USPS).
