About This Item
Two volumes WRITTEN IN SPANISH PROSE under the direction of Alexander Alekhine. The notation is Spanish notation, not algebraic (e.g. T8C instead of Rb8), but it is not hard to figure out. Condition is great and the binding is tight; the pages are somewhat yellowed, but entirely legible. These two volumes were originally published in the mid-1940s and are reprints of those original editions. The authors discuss the entire history of chess strategy with emphasis on hypermodern contributions. Approximately half of the games are from 1920 through 1944 in the first volume, and the majority are from this period in the second volume. The selected games are well annotated, but with an emphasis on explanation, not so much on concrete lines of play.
