San Francisco: Book Club of California, 1971. First Edition. First Edition Thus, Limited to 450 copies. 4to. 84 pp. Designed, illustrated and printed by Mallette Dean. Introduction by Oscar Lewis. Title illustration and seven chapter head pieces in color by Mallette Dean. Bound in green and beige decorated boards with yellow green cloth back; printed spine title label. Orignal prospectus laid in. A fine copy. The essays in this book originally appeared in the New York Independent in 1872 following Ms. Jackson's trip to California as a correspondent. Her observations are of a Yosemite Valley just becoming known as a tourist attraction. (BCC 137).
