Rockwell Kent (1882-1971) was an American painter and illustrator who bridged the artistic gap between Victorian and Modern art; the illustrator of countless books, his appeal has continued to grow throughout the 20th century and he remains highly collectable today. This volume relates, in a fascinating and mostly humorous style, the story of Kent (and family's) short visit to Newfoundland, with Kent being viewed with some suspicion resulting in the officials inviting Kent and family to leave....then, in 1967 ("more than half a century from the events I have recorded") receiving an official invitation for them to return.
