A wonderful signed first edition copy of Unsworth's fiction novel, inspired by his efforts at an Italian settlement, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. First Edition, First Impression. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Signed by the author to the title page. This is a work of fiction by Barry Unsworth, published in 1996 and loosely inspired by his efforts to settle in the Italian countryside. Set in Umbria, Unsworth introduces a host of characters who collide with each other with overlapping stories of deceit and greed. Main characters include Professor Monti and a cunning lawyer named Mancini. Barry Unsworth (1930-2012) was an English writer. He was particularly well-known for his historical fiction, and published 17 novels in his lifetime. One of his novels, 'Sacred Hunger', won the Man Booker Prize in 1992.Collated, complete. In the original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with no noticeable faults. Dust wrapper is excellent with minimal edge wear to the top edge of wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Author's ink inscription to title page. Fine
