About This Item
London, c. 1894. Lithographed folding map, 67 x 56 cm, printed in colours, dissected into 20 panels and laid on linen, folding into publishers red cloth covers with printed paper label. The Lado Enclave has been ceded to the Congo Free State, which took place in 1894, although the territory ceded in return is not clearly demarcated. Also published in Stanfords London Atlas, our example of the map was separately issued, and illustrates the speed and scale of the Scramble for Africa. Map
