Synopsis

Advise and Consent is a 1959 political novel written by Allen Drury which explores the reactions of those in and around the United States Senate to the controversial nomination of Robert Leffingwell, a former Communist Party member, to be United States Secretary of State. The novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1960, and was followed by A Shade of Difference in 1962 and four subsequent sequels.
