About This Item
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1928. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Dark olive green blind-embossed leatherette with gilt spine lettering. 312pp. Tissue-guarded frontispiece. Very good. Faint edgewear only, mainly at head and tail of spine. A tight, attractive later printing of this 1921 novel, the second to feature the clever lawyer. Train (1875-1945) was a New York County assistant district attorney and as a mystery novelist pioneered the courtroom thriller genre and immortalized attorney Ephraim Tutt.
