About This Item

New York: Random House, 1946. First Edition . Cloth. Fair/No Dust Jacket. 997 pp. First issue binding, 8 5/8" tall, using medium-quality sheets which tend to age a little, with publisher's name on cloth spine 1 1/4" long (the second binding is 8 3/16" tall, utilizes a thinner and finer white paper which does not darken over time, and has a publisher's name 1 5/8" long). From the estate of A E Van Vogt, author of two stories published here. Inscribed "To "Daddy" Hull, Birthday 1946" on front endpaper; this was later crossed out, probably when the book reverted to Hull after her father's death; the book subsequently passed into the estate of A E Van Vogt. Worn and frayed, binding cracked before half-title page.

Synopsis

Adventures in Time and Space was an anthology of science fiction stories edited by Raymond J. Healy and J. Francis McComas and published in 1946. When it was re-released in 1977 by Ballantine Books, Analog book reviewer Lester del Rey referred to it as a book he often gave to people in order to turn them onto the genre. It is now once again out of print.
