Illustrated with twenty-four plates. Collated complete. The second novel from the author, originally published as a serial from 1837 to 1839 and as a three-volume book in 1838. The classic story follows a poor orphan, who is raised in a workhouse and escapes to London where he meets a gang of juvenile pickpockets. Written by Charles Dickens, an English novelist and social critic who created some of the world's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded as one of the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Illustrated by George Cruikshank, a British caricaturist and book illustrator, praised as the "modern Hogarth" during his life. Bound by Morrell, London. Bound in full tree calf.
