Taking the nom de plume of Louis de Rougemont, he wrote extensively about his so called travels and adventures there. These included riding a turtle and to have seen flying wombats. Henri Louis Grin or 'de Rougemont' as he was now known was eventually exposed. .

From The Sondley Reference Library in Asheville, NC with minimal markings: call letters on spine, bookplate inside front cover, blind stamp on title page, and a small number stamp on copyright page. Spine is darkened with soil and rubbing present. Covers are soiled with edge and tips worn. Previous owners (Sondley) signature also present inside front cover. Slight age smell to text. Forster Alexander Sondley, attorney and scholar, was born at Montrealla, his maternal grandfather's home in Alexander, a community ten miles north of Asheville. As an adult he most often referred to himself as F. A. Sondley. A lawyer. Historian, collector of art, he is chiefly remembered for his personal library of approximately 30,000 volumes containing hundreds of rare works on southern and state history and on natural history. First Colonial Library Edition; Cr. 8vo; pp. xx, 396, (8); frontispiece portrait with tissue guard, text illustrated with 45 b/w. illustrations, 8 pages of advertisements, bound in original red cloth, title lettered in black on spine and front board, front and back free endpaper replaced, name and date on front fixed endpaper, small closed tear to margin of page viii, pages browned, good copy. The story of a shipwreck survivor who claimed to have lived with the Australian Aborigines for 30 years. Possible that the author was more of an editor than anything else picking up the stories and embellishing them. First serialised in Wide World Magazine, caused a sensation in Sydney and London in 1898.
