Publisher's dark brown cloth binding, very clean, bright gilt portrait of the author on the front cover, bright gilt stamping to spine, minor wear only. Tight binding, no inner hinge gaping, slate gray end papers, unmarked, last 30 leaves has light rubbing to lower part of the front-edge, limited and accidental fault. 544 pp., plus publisher's advertisements. A lovely, fresh copy. Part of a uniform designed publisher's binding, issued in the late 19th century, other titles available from this series.
