Cambridg: James Munroe and Company, 1856. 92pp. Paper wrappers. Spine worn at head and foot. Wrappers tanned, bottom right corner torn. Overall a very good. The text of a speech given by Joel Parker, at the time a professor of constitutional law at Harvard and later the Governor of New Jersey, concerning the constitutionality of new states being admitted to the Union and representation. Parker opposes the admission of new slave states on the grounds that they gain disproportionate representation due to their holding slaves. SABIN 58702.
