About This Item
London and New York: Privately Printed, 1898. Irish-American actress Ada Rehan (1857-1916) may be unfamiliar today, but she was much admired by Shaw, Twain, and Wilde. Here is a sort of vanity biography, Privately Printed by Augustin Daly, her theatrical manager (and lover). First published in 1891, this is a Very Good (Minus) copy of a "New Edition, Revised and Enlarged." An interesting artifact, and uncommon. Bound in white cloth, with Ada's signature in gilt on the front cover; no titling on the spine. Clean text; 211 pages; many illustrations. Mildly bumped, and showing inevitable light soiling due to white binding. This would be graded much higher, save that the first signature containing the Title Page, has come loose. Please note the condition issue. While an attractive book, Quercus must offer it as a Binding Copy, in need of restoration/repair. . First Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
