Hardcover, original marbled paper covered boards half bound in leather. Exterior shows moderate to heavy wear and leather is crusty. Leather hinges also cracked on both sides and spine edges are chipped. Interior hinges are cracking at boards but text pages are tight, nothing torn or loose. Paper is toned due to age and scattered foxing and spotting is present. Front pastedown shows original owners names stating this was a presentation to John Koonce (?) from a Thom G. Roofs (?) with an 1877 date. Some faded writing is also present on the front end page, no other handwriting found. This is the original edition of 1877, not a modern reprint.
