An important life, the text of which is interspersed with a large number of Hume's letters. The appendix includes essays not inserted in his miscellaneous works, a letter from Hume to the author of the Critical Review about Wilkie's Epigoniad, and Exposé succinct de la contestation, qui s'est élévé entre M. Hume et M. Rousseau.
