Reissue of his scarce 1767 book. This book (long out of print) influenced the instructions for James Cook to explore the unknown east coast of Australia. Foreword by Dr. Kevin Fewster of the Australian National Maritime Museum, and an essay by Dr. Andrew Cook of the British Library (47 pages) + facsimile of book (103 pages). (Limited edition of 900 copies. Portrait of Alexander Dalrymple by John Thomas Seton. Large foldout map of the southern Pacific Ocean. (Bookplate of Andrew David, Lieutenant Commander, Royal Navy.).
