Spurgeon (1834 ? 1892) was a Reformed British Baptist preacher who became one of the leading figures of the British Baptist church during the mid-1800s. Spurgeon had a charity organization known as Spurgeon?s, and he was also a skilled author, having written numerous prayer books, commentaries, sermons and an extensive autobiography.

According to Promise is one of Spurgeon?s most well-known publications ? a book that urges doctrinal followers to live in accordance with the promises made by God to His most devout believers. When praying, for instance, Spurgeon implies that one should be bold and expect God to answer.
