About This Item

Rubbing along all the edges of the illustrated boards including about 3" x 1" of the surface rubbed through on the bottom edge of the front cover. Spine starting to separate on the inside front cover. Exterior is noticeably worn. No jacket. "roger's book" written inside front cover. Interior pages clean, with very faint tanning due to age. Interior color lithographs are very bright and crisp. In this early edition, illustrations were lithographed on stone in five colors, resulting in extremely vibrant color printing. Printings after 1957 did not use the stone lithograph process. The 75th anniversary reprint also made some changes to the illustrations to reflect changing attitudes towards race. This edition has the original versions of those illustrations.. 8.75" X 12.25" X 0.3" Children's book illustrating the life of Abraham Lincoln. 1940 Caldecott medal for illustration.
