London: W.H. Broom, 1873. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Fair. 18mo. SIGNED with inscription to "Master Harry William Anderson, With love and best wishes from the author, signed "A.M., Newport, June 1880." Orig. blue cloth covers inside hand-sewn black cloth wrapper. Title hand lettered to reverse of a New Year's card with small colour vignette, previously stapled to front wrapper (staples have since all come loose). 61 pp., ads. Text block is largely loose and disbound, though apparently complete, including frontis illustration and adverts at end. Pencil notations featuring "Different names given to OUr Saviour and God" to verso of frontis. Albert Midlane (23 January 1825 - 27 February 1909) was a British poet who wrote several hundred hymns, most notably "There's a Friend for Little Children." A scarce signed volume of his work.
