"On Sunday last, April 21st, not less than four thousand people were crowded within the walls of the spacious Music Hall, in Boston, to listen to a discourse on the war, by Wendell Phillips, Esq., before the Twenty-eighth Congregational Society ... . . . I have counseled peace---urged . . . the expediency of acknowledging a Southern Confederacy. . . . I have always believed in the sincerity of Abraham Lincoln. . . . I only doubted sometimes whether he were really the head of the government." An endorsement of Lincoln's policy as Commander-in-Chief. A nice display piece.
