About This Item

Privately Printed,, 1949.. Hardcover. Very Good+. [viii], 79pp, followed by 9 blank pages for 'notes'. The prelims include a frontis drawing of 'Eistett' from the Nuremburg Chronicle of 1493, a note about production difficulties from the authors, a piece by Viscount Milner about 'common citizenship of all countries', and one by Earl Baldwin of Bewdley which speaks of love of home, which makes our race seek new homes overseas. Then follows a short index of Counties, with soldiers listed for each, followed by the main 72-page alphabetic index of prisoner's names, each with name of regiment and their address. All appear to be of the Officer class. A few quotes from other authors interpolate the list. Contents clean and unmarked, with a pale foxing spot at the top of the page of some of the prelims. 22x14cms, in the original binding of green cloth, titled to front and spine. Slightly sunned along top edge. Clean and firm, a very good copy. Rare.

About Chapel Books

I sell books from a large disused Chapel next to the village duck pond, where I have lived about 40 years: just inland from Dunwich and between Southwold and Aldeburgh. I open 7 days a week, 12-5.
