Much of the building dates from the Noman times, ceasing function as an abbey during the dissolution before becoming a cathedral in 1877.The present building is Norman, Romanesque, and Gothic in its architecture.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and in-text illustrations.Prior owner's ink inscription to the reverse of the frontispiece, dated 1881.
