Handwritten. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1943, WW2 autograph book compiled byJoseph Sveiven a soldier stationed in Casablanca. He gathered many sayings and signatures from his fellow soldiers, and also used the album forstamps he collected during the war, as well as stamps collected once he returned home. It notes on the inside cover: The Property of Joseph Sveiven, Casablanca Africa, Wed Dec VIII 1943. Notes inside refer to him as Cap, I believe he was Marines. The book is 7 x4 inches and has 37 pages with autographs, sentiments, and quips from the fellow soldiers. 17 pages mostly filled with mounted stamps, (they do not cover any autographs, so this is not a 2nd use scrapbook). There are 14 blank pages. There are 3 pages of journal entry where he talks about leaving Mt Snelling on June 3, 1943, to Camp Kilmer, NJ, and leaving June 13th for Africa. Talks about seeing submarines on June 15th (no damage done), a submarine attack in June 22nd (it was sunk), and sailing to the south to get rid of the subs, 300 miles out of their way. Arrived at Oran Africa on July 5th. Mentions General Patton famous tank 3rd armored loading to go to Sicily, took 12 hundred war prisoners back to US. More travel on Aug 27th, 1943, landed in Casablanca Africa Sept 13th, landed in Naples August 3rd 1944, 499 German prisoners back to the US, struck by 90 mile wind, 2 degrees of going overboard, arriving back in US Sept 13th.
