Handwritten. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1943, WWII autograph book -- by Joseph Sveiven, an American GI stationed in Casablanca, Morocco. Sveiven gathered his fellow GI's autographs and quips in this 7"x 4" album. Sveiven kept stamps here too; he collected some during the war and added others after he returned home). Inside cover: Property of Joseph Sveiven, Casablanca, Africa, Wed. Dec VIII 1943. Notes written by friends refer to Joseph Sveiven as 'Cap'. WW2 Soldier's field-book has 37 pp. - Sveiven's own entries/ autographs, sentiments & quips by Sveiven's fellow soldiers/ postage stamps. Joseph Sveiven wrote: "leaving Mt. Snelling on June 3,1943 to Camp Kilmer, NJ; leaving June 13th for Africa; saw submarines on June 15th (no damage done), a submarine attack in June 22nd (it was sunk), sailing 300 miles off course to avoid more German U-Boats.  Arrived at Oran, Morocco on July 5th. Mentions General Patton's famous 3rd Armored Division in Sicily, taking 1200 war prisoners back to U.S.....more travel - on Aug. 27th, 1943, landed in Casablanca. Sept.13th, landed in Naples. August 3rd 1944, sent 499 German prisoners back to the U.S. -- 'struck by 90 mile wind, and was 2 degrees from going overboard'".
