About This Item

College Park MD: University of Maryland, 1937. Hardcover. Fine. Three volumes. First and only editions. Quartos. Textured leatherette with embossed terrapin. Each has a bit of soiling, else about fine. The yearbooks for Charlie Keller's varsity baseball career at Maryland. Keller starred for Maryland in his sophomore (1935) and junior year (1936), and the presence of major league scouts is noted in the baseball section which also pictures Keller, and enumerates his accomplishments. The 1937 yearbook, Keller's senior year, mentions that Keller left the school for the Newark Bears, just before the college season started. Keller played on the great Bear teams of 1937 and 1938 before being brought up to star for the Yankee from 1939-1951, with time out to serve during the war. He was a five-time all-star.
