[YALE MEMORABILIA, CIVIL WAR GRADUATES] CLASS OF 1862 YALE - PORTRAITS AND SKETCHES, published De Vinne Press, 1899, limited edition 200 copies (stated in front), dark blue cloth cover with gilded lettering, 7-1/2" x 11", xii, 267 pp., frontispiece photograph The Old Brick Row and Fence, illustration President Theodore D. Woolsey on reverse of title page, portrait illustrations of professors Porter, Thacher, and Dwight on a front page, photographs of Second Division [18]62 [class group] and Thulia Crew, [18]62 [scull/team rowing boat] on a front page, 2 photographs of most class members, one of respective individual when he was in the class at a young age and the other later in life in the 1890s when the book except for ones who have died, some of these in military service in the Civil War, which is mentioned, biographical information on page facing the photographs is detailed and frequently colorful in relating various professions, businesses, travels, and accomplishments of the period, and in many cases chronology of Civil War service including battles, positions held, rank, etc., and when relevant wounds in action and where the class member died; SCARCE, WORLDCAT/OCLC records only 8 copies, one in good condition only for sale online; CONDITION: spots of wear to cover including specks of loss of surface cloth, whitish mark at bottom edge of back cover, and small bump at cover outside edge, scattered foxing throughout photograph and text pages, slight leaning of text block, overall solid, well-preserved copy.
