Illustrator: Various. 830 g.; VII, 8-72 pages, list of plates, details of the paintings, artists in public collections and index. Colour illustrated endpapers, being a reproduction of Arthur Streeton's painting "Golden Summer, 1899". The text is illustrated with 48 reproductions of Australian paintings, the first being painted in 1849 and the last painted in 1961. Gray speckled coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper being a reproduction of the painting by Tom Roberts of Shearing the Rams. Apart from slight loss of colour on the spine section of the jacket, there is no damage to report. Some of the best known and most famous of Australian paintings from convict times to the 1960s.
