Throughout text, 1 folding plate; creased & repaired on verso. Worming to upper fore-edge margins. Nonetheless a very rare nicely illustrated copy of this work published during Galileo's lifetime. He probably died at the age of 77 on Jan-8,1642 in Arcetri Italy. New thoughts of Galilei, mathematician and engineer ... Or wonderful inventions, demonstrations ... Unknown at present, it is treatise on the proportion of movements, both natural and violent, and of all that is most subtle in the Mechanics and in physic. This limited edition suite of prints is number 8 of 99, individually numbered and signed by Phoebe Beasley. The portfolio contains title page, colophon and the complete series of six silk screens designed to illustrate a selection of Langston Hughes poems entitled "The Sun Is Coming after a While" published by The Limited Editions Club in 1998. The George Drexel Studio in New York printed the silk screens on Arches "88" paper. Publisher's purple cloth-covered case with inset gilt-lettered leather title label and velvet lining is in excellent condition. Elephant folio case measures approximately 18.5" x 23". All as published in Fine condition. A difficult item to locate. ; Signed by Illustrator .

Here many works by famous authors, such as Oliver Twist [which sold at auction for $3,625- for a Bentley's copy], Joseph Grimaldi and others, appear in print for the first time. Poe's Duc Dd L'Omelette appears as a first appearance but Fall of the House of Usher is not, however, a first appearance and indeed may be a pirated edition.
