Description:
London: X3 Posters RARE exhibition poster, no date, circa 1982- 1990 ( possibly 1989, the numbers 8 an 9 printed on the hands lower left), by Ken Meharg and Bob Linney, who ran the poster operation for Birmingham Arts Laboratory or Arts Lab, an experimental arts centre in Birmingham, until 1982. Posters from that era were featured in an international touring exhibition by the British Council between 1981 and 1985, and were the subject of an exhibition by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in 1998. They were known for their use of psychedelic imagery. Near Fine, small faint creases. Well suited for framing, will be shipped loosely rolled in a mailing tube. . First Printing. Poster. St. Louis, MO: Nils Hardin, 1974. A run of 26 issues published Dec. 1974- Mar., 1978. Nos, 9, 11, 13-21, 24-33, and 35-38, with a duplicate copy of issue No.30, the 3rd Anniversary Issue. Many with Frank Hamilton cover art. This run includes the Ray Bradbury and H.P. Lovecraft Issues, the latter (No.19) with the RARE Arkham House flyer for Frank Belknap Long's "HPL: Dreamer on the Nightside" published Dec. 1975. Started in March 1974 by Nils Hardin, Xenophile was mainly devoted to science fiction, although it also published outstanding mystery issues, several of which were devoted to pulp detectives and contained bibliographies. Xenophile lasted 45 issues until March 1980. As a lot Near Fine, due to longtime storage several issues are wavy. . First Printing. Magazine. Near Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
