Jean le Pautre (1618-1682), elder brother of the architect Antoine, began his career as an apprentice to the 'menusier' Adam Philippon, for whom he produced ornamental designs. His first plates illustrate the baptism of Louis XIV on 21 April 1643. Le Pautre is considered to be one of the most inventive and prolific ornamental draftsmen of all time. Hubert Robert (22 May 1733 – 15 April 1808), was a French painter, noted for his landscape paintings and picturesque depictions of ruins.

A rare list of plants sold after the death of Laurent Boulard that shows us what he grew and sold. The list includes 100 orange trees, like the ones in the Tuilleries and 1400 young orange plants. And many other plants that Boulard grew in pots. The Rue du Cendrier was at the corner of the Rue Duméril and was replaced by the Boulevard St. Marcel. The name of Laurent Boulard is mentioned in several almanachs (with his address) but I have not found any other information about him.

Dutch translation of Le Clerc's 'Traité d'architecture, avec des remarques et des observations très utiles pour les jeunes gens qui veuilent s'appliquer à ce bel art'. This was first published in Paris in 1714. The work was translated into Dutch in 1781 by Pierre Esaie Duyvené, himself an architect. It was also he who copied the engravings. He explains in the introduction that he tried to get enough prints from the original plates but after learning that the plates did not exist anymore he found himself obliged to do the engravings for his edition himself. The procession of the city's booksellers was one of these festivities and the report of it we find in the present little work. Scarce.

One of the first books which systematically deals with playing cards, their production including paper, use and card history. The first volume, printed in 1784, contains panels of pictures of 21 tarot cards, German Piquet cards from the 15th and 17th century, patterns of German costumes, as well as examples of Chinese card and board games. The Imperial Picture Gallery had its origins in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was not until the 18th century that the various holdings were brought together and displayed in Vienna's Stallburg. In 1776 Maria Theresa and her son, Emperor Joseph II decided to transfer the k.k. Gemäldegalerie from the Imperial Stables — a part of the city's Hofburg Imperial Palace — to the Upper Belvedere. Inspired by the idea of enlightened absolutism, the intention was to make the imperial collection accessible to the general public. The gallery opened five years later, making it one of the first public museums in the world.
