Just a little wear at corners which are still relatively sharp and some fading to spine ends. Previous owner's name in pencil to ffep and tiny spot to rear pastedown, otherwise clean with just some light toning. Binding tight. Tears to bottom corners of several pages which were not cut well at printer - otherwise Near Fine. Jacket is unclipped ($3.75) with correct price as first printing. Small chips at corners, head of spine, top of rear panel and top of front flap. Some edge nicks and short tears with small puncture to front panel adjacent spine. A few tiny pencil erasure marks to jacket and light scuffing. Cover design by Alvin Lustig and George Barrows.

Due to its age and the paper quality used for these dime store novels, this book has seen better days, but a previous owner put new card stock covers on book and glued remainging cover and spine on. Pages are heavily tanned and stained with darkeingin around staples and some paper remnants to first and last survivign pages where covers previously stuck. All text pages present, though a few are loose. Quite scarce.

A beauiftul copy with only a very small puncture/nick to bottom of spine cloth of unknown origin as it does not affect unclipped jacket which is glossy and beautiful. Illustrated.

Top page ends tinted red. A little tanning to endpapers, otherwise clean interior with sharp corners and tigt binding. Jacket is unclipped($2.50) with 1 1/2 inch strip missing to bottom corner of front panel, tiny chip to bottom of rear panel, edgewear and nicks with some staining from old jacket protector to edges and light fading to spine.

Image to title page tipped on. Jacket is unclipped ($14.95) with edgewear and some scratches to rear panel.

The TRUE first edition stated with full number line down to and including 1, not the collector's edition which published two years later. White paper covered boards with red foil to spine. Light dings to corners and spine ends and remainder dots to top page ends and top of rear board. Unfortunately, at some point the jacket was in a protector that was glued to pastedowns, so both pastedowns have glue residue and paper scarring as well as inside jacket flaps which also have scarring(lesser) and some creasing. Unclipped jacket has mild edgewear.

In beige cloth with mild edgewear, a bump to top of spine with some light abrasion and a small split, owner's name stamped on bottom of ffep and some foxing to top page ends. Jacket is complete, unclipped and unfaded, but has edgewear and chipping especially to corners, and spine ends. A few small chips/punctures to spine and creases as well. Quite scarce.

A very nice copy in unclipped jacket (12s 6d net) with chipping at corners and spine ends, a spot to front flap crease, a tear to bottom rear spine crease and rubbing at edges. tanning overall.

In blue cloth with white type to spine. A copy that is well loved and has had some repairs to binding over the years including glue to split at top outside of front spine crease and very bottom of rear spine crease. Fraying to bottom of spine with spots worn through cloth at corners, bottom of boards and one spot to top of front board at spine. Front hinge separated at some point exposing mull and endured some amateur repairs with tape and then glue and is now holding well. 2 inch split still visible to top of front hinge at endpapers and tape shadows/adhesive residue to two pages following including title/copyright page front and back. Front edges of same pages have been trimmed. Last two pages and epilogue also show previous taping with residue and shadows, and trimming to front edges and have been reglued.
