Downing, Sincerely from Patrick Quentin.” written in vintage fountain pen ink on a 4” x 3” piece of paper. With a 1” x 1/3” corner clipped, else fine. Patrick Quentin is the author of ‘Garden Clubs and Spades,’ ‘A Puzzle for Fools,’ ‘Puzzle for Pilgrims,’ ‘The Ordeal of Mrs. Snow and Other Stories’ (a Queen's Quorum title), etc. Patrick Quentin was one of the pseudonyms of author Hugh Callingham Wheeler (1912 - 1987), a Tony Award-winning English-born playwright, screenwriter, librettist, poet, and translator. Wheeler won both a Tony and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical for ‘A Little Night Music’ and ‘Candide’ (operetta), and won both again for his book for ‘Sweeney Todd.’
