It was organized under the direction of Paul Boetticher, the director of the department Exhibitions and Fairs in the Main Propaganda Office of the NSDAP, and designed by Otto Jahn. Photographs and diagrams used in the catalog were provided by the Institute for German Culture and Economy Propaganda (Institut für Deutsche Kultur- und Wirtschaftspropaganda). A unique collection of more than 1,000 different textile samples, roughly 2 1/4 x 5 3/4" in size, with an abundance of vibrant Art Deco designs. They are organized in five series without any descriptive text but contain stamped series numbers in Roman numerals on each page and handwritten Arabic numbers next to each of the textile samples. This extraordinary collection covers a wide range of colors and designs ranging from subtle, at times sparse application of lines to dense abstract, yet floral like and ornamental designs. Noted right-wing publisher Editions C.E.A. issued this piece of anti-Communist propaganda during the period of Nazi-occupation in France. The publication is photo-illustrated throughout in b/w gravure, and contains some photo collages. Text is in line with the political stances of the Nazis and naturally decries the effects and failures of the Russian revolution, and the atrocities committed by the communist regime of Stalin before and during the Second World War. It also specifically mentions the 20 million Russian lives lost during the war. Other obvious and well worn targets of the text are Jewish plots (the publisher was also known for numerous anti-Semitic publications) and British betrayal.
