Scott, Foresman And Company, Chicago, 1935. Cloth. Condition: Very Good-. Hardcover with no dust jacket; teal boards with navy titles, designs and illustrations. This book is part of the Curriculum Foundation Series suitable for the 3rd grade reader. The spine is faded with rubbing at the spine ends and corners. The front and back free end papers have a beautiful display of illustrations and designs in navy and cream. The 176 pages are clean and unmarked and divided into eight sections, each reinforcing important art concepts such as colors, drawing, painting, sculpture, landscapes, architecture and design. There are 32 reproductions of famous works of art with numerous color illustrations, an Index and a Vocabulary List. Told in story form, the characters of Dick, Sally, Polly and Bobby (among many others) provide interesting reading while developing an appreciation of art in the child.

Joel Chandler Harris (December 9, 1848 – July 3, 1908) was an American journalist, fiction writer, and folklorist best known for his collection of Uncle Remus stories. Harris was born in Eatonton, Georgia, where he served as an apprentice on a plantation during his teenage years. He spent the majority of his adult life in Atlanta working as an associate editor at the Atlanta Constitution. Harris led two professional lives: as the editor and journalist known as Joe Harris, he supported a vision of the New South with the editor Henry W. Grady (1880–1889), stressing regional and racial reconciliation after the Reconstruction era.
