Milan, Italy: Carlo Cisventi, 1955. Vintage borderless black-and-white press photograph of Italian actress Antonella Lualdi as she walks her donkey down the street. A curious man, perhaps a friend of Lualdi's, or her then-husband Franco Interlenghi, has decided to stop for a riding lesson. The photograph, taken by Carlo Cisventi (with his rubber stamps on the verso), was produced circa 1955, as indicated by the film poster seen in the background of the image. The poster is for the film "Una sera di maggio," an Italian film released in 1955. Lualdi's notable film credits include Alberto Lattuada's "The Overcoat" (1952), Carmine Gallone's "Casta diva" (1954), Carlo Lizzani's "Chronicle of Poor Lovers" (1954, with Marcello Mastroianni), Claude Autant-Lara's "Rouge et noir" (1954), Giorgio Bianchi's "Non c'e amore piu grande" (1955, her first film with Franco Interlenghi), Mauro Bolognini's "Wild Love" (1955, also with Interlenghi), and Claude Chabrol's "Leda" (1959). 7 x 9.5 inches. Description:
N.p.: N.p., 1966. Archive of five vintage oversize press photographs by Michael Montfort of actor Klaus Kinski, his second wife, actor Brigitte Tocki, and their then five year old daughter, actor Nastassja Kinksi. From the photographer's estate. The photographs show Kinski with his family, the images generally painting a picture of Kinski as a loving husband and doting father, and an altogether happy family, images in stark contrast to both Kinski's already well deserved reputation for violent and erratic behavior and the truth of his family's domestic life. An early example of the self aware myth making Kinski would engage in for much of hsi career, though running counter to the public image he would embrace and embellish later in life. Born in Freiburg, Germany, Michael Montfort began his career working as a photojournalist for German magazines such as "Stern," "Quick," and "Bild am Sonntag." He covered Queen Elizabeth's 1965 visit to Germany, the aftermath of the Six Day War in Israel and… Read More

N.p.: N.p., 1948. Collection of six vintage photographs of actress Joan Blondell and her husband, theater and film producer, Mike Todd, circa 1948. Two of the photographs, of Blondell and Todd at their estate in Westchester County, New York, have photographer Leo Friedman's stamp on the versos. Blondell and Todd were married in 1947, Blondell's third and final marriage, and Todd's second, in a famously tempestuous and short-lived relationship. During the marriage Todd went through a well publicized bankruptcy, having lost hundreds of thousands of dollars to gambling, and was accused by Blondell of holding her by the ankles outside of a hotel window. The marriage ended in an acrimonious divorce in 1950. In 1957 Todd married Elizabeth Taylor, and died in a plane crash the following year, the only one of eight marriages of Taylor's that did not end in divorce. Four 8 x 10 inches, and one 5 x 7 inches.
