N.p.: Federal Telefilms, 1954. Draft script for Season One, Episode 14 of the 1954-1956 television show, which originally aired on September 23, 1954. Copy belonging to episode director Derwin Abrahams, with his name (as Derwin Abbe) on the front wrapper in manuscript pencil, and manuscript pencil annotations on nearly every page. Based on the character created by Michael Arlen, which first appeared in 1940 short story published in "Town & Country" magazine. The character would go on to appear in 15 films throughout the 1940s, as well as a radio serial, before finally being adapted as this early syndicated television show which ran for 39 episodes between 1954 and 1956. Based on the 1946 Broadway play, and a prequel to the 1941 film "The Little Foxes." In the fictional town of Bowden, Alabama, the wealthy Hubbard family holds onto their old-South prominence and prestige through exploitation and cruelty. A searing portrayal of racism and class privilege in the post-Civil War American South. Set in Alabama. Green titled wrappers, noted as REVISED FIRST DRAFT on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped production No. 7494, dated June 9, 1947, with credits for screenwriter Vladimir Pozner. N.p.: N.p., 1897. Vintage borderless photograph from the 1897 short film, with the number 542 in manuscript pencil on the verso, with a still image from the film corresponding to that number on the website Catalogue Lumiere showing a similar scene. While the importance of the Lumiere Brothers to the invention and popularity of the moving image is well known, director Alexandre Promio, who filmed over 300 shorts for the Lumieres, deserves equal consideration. Of particular note are the series of films he shot while presenting the new technology at the 1897 General Art and Industrial Exposition in Stockholm, Sweden, of which "Arrivee a l'Exposition en bateau" is one. The films represent the first ever shot in the country, and Promio would go on to train pioneering Swedish director Ernest Florman in the art of filmmaking. Tokyo: Toei, 1974. Draft script for the 1974 Japanese film. Text and titles in Japanese. Based on a series of magazine articles written by journalist Koichi Iiboshi, which were in turn based on memoirs written by yakuza crime boss Kozo Mino. The fifth, and final, film in director Kinji Fukasaku's yakuza pentalogy, following feuding gangs in post-war Hiroshima. Recently the subject of a complete restoration helmed and issued by Arrow Films in England. Tan titled perfect-bound wrappers. 67 leaves, with last page of text numbered D27. Copy belonging to actor Marshall Reed, who played "Cal Derringer" in the film, with his name on the front wrapper in manuscript ink, and annotations throughout in manuscript ink and pencil. One of Wakely's final films at Monogram Pictures, where he became a popular musical Western actor under his own name, beginning with "Springtime in Texas" (1945), and ending with "Lawless Code" (1949). This time Wakely and his partner Cannonball Taylor escort a school teacher (Davis) to Oreville, where she is accosted by two outlaws. The local marshal (London) wrangles with one of the outlaws, who informs his cohort that the marshal is actually wanted by the law himself, and they attempt to blackmail him. The sequel to "Brother Rat" (1938), following three cadets as they graduate from Virginia Military Institute and face adult life after school. Vintage studio still photograph of Edmund Gwenn, Donald Crisp, and Pal (the dog performing as Lassie) from the television release of the 1949 film, circa 1970s. Based on the 1912 novel "Greyfriars Bobby" by Eleanor Stackhouse Atkinson, which is based on the true story of Greyfriars Bobby, a 19th century Edinburgh Terrier who spent 14 years guarding the grave of his owner. When Lassie's master is killed by robbers, the collie keeps a vigil besides her master's grave, in violation of local dog laws, and her late owner's friend struggle to keep the local police and town magistrate from euthanizing the dog. Director Paul Bogart's sequel to Robert Mulligan's 1971 film, "Summer of '42." Hermie (Grimes), Oscy (Houser), and Benjie (Conant) graduate from high school in the waning months of World War II, and go separate ways. Benjie joins the Marines, while Hermie and Oscy take on the daunting task of entering college. Hermie falls for beautiful college freshman Julie (Winters), and a fraternity president (William Atherton) supervises hazing rituals. The series follows the frequently romantic, comic antics of a group of young doctors. Set and shot on location in London. Los Angeles: Jack Stewart and Associates, 1950. Original radio script for "The Dead Are Never Lonely," episode 474 of season 10 (Sept. 25, 1950) of the popular radio program, "Inner Sanctum Mystery." The series aired from January 7, 1941 to October 5, 1952, and was created by producer Himan Brown. A total of 527 episodes were broadcast, most of them now presumed to be lost, including this one. Brief annotations in manuscript ink to a few pages. The anthology series featured mystery and horror stories, and its tongue-in-cheek introductions were in sharp contrast to shows like "Suspense" (1942-1962) and "The Whistler" (1942-1955). Early episodes opened with Raymond Edward Johnson introducing himself as, "Your host, Raymond," followed by spooky organ music by Lew White, and each episode punctuated by Raymond's morbid jokes and playful puns.
