Description:
New Castle, DE: Oak Knoll Press, 2019. First Edition. First Edition. Hardcover, illustrated boards. SIGNED by the author on the title page. "The Celluloid Paper Trail: Identification and Description of Twentieth Century Film Scripts" is the first book ever published on film script identification and description. Lavishly illustrated and detailed, designed for any book scholar, including collectors, archivists, librarians, and dealers. Foreword by Tony Bill, Academy Award-winning producer, director, and actor. Illustrated in color with over 130 examples of scripts of films in every genre. With an index that references proper terminology located throughout the book. The film script is an example of rare book that defies nearly every norm. It is issued, not published, and rather than having the properties of a traditional first edition, a given script is instead one of many drafts that fit within the development and production of a motion picture. Adding to its complexity is the fact that methods and… Read More

Description:
France: Various Publishers, 1959. Collection of thirteen French publisher and distributor catalogs, including a small book-shaped calendar, advertising toys, novelties, and home goods. Most are full-color folding brochures. From the archives of Maryse Martres, in original manila envelope with her name on the front in manuscript ink. Martres (Martin) was a prolific French actress who was later involved in press relations in France, worked for Cinedis, the notable film agency, and managed much of the company's press and advertising responsibilities. Present in the collection are several checklists on Cinedis parchment, noting members of the agency and their children, and ideas for toy gifts for each child. Martres was in charge, no doubt, of the Christmas gift giving at Cinedis as well. Several negative film strips from a holiday party are also included. The collection offers a glimpse inside France's mid-century publishing, distributing, and advertising scheme, not unlike the lavish color… Read More
