Description:
Hollywood: Self published, 1960. Treatment script for an unproduced film called "20,000 Bikinis Under the Sea." Maurer rose to some popularity after his brief stint as a comic book artist, notably for "Three Stooges" titles and the first 3-D comics, "Three-Dimension Comics," featuring Mighty Mouse. He also married Joan Howard, daughter of Stooge Moe Howard, and this association led him to managing the Stooges after their contract with Columbia, producing seven Stooge films as well as the television series, "The New 3 Stooges" (1965). An interesting take on beach party phase during the 1960s, where an inventor develops a sustainable way to live underwater. He eats, drinks, and gets married, all underwater. Gray titled wrappers. Title page present, undated, with a credit for writer Maurer. 45 leaves, with last page of text numbered 44. Mimeograph duplication. Pages and wrapper Very Good plus, bound with two gold brads.

Description:
Beverly Hills, CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1968. Vintage pressbook for the 1968 film. The director's sprawling, science fiction epic traces the evolution of human intelligence under the influence of an unspecified alien force. The film's high scientific accuracy, coupled with bleeding-edge special effects and minimal use of dialogue, make "2001" universally recognized as one of the most influential films ever made. Winner of an Academy Award for Best Special Effects, and nominated for three others including Best Director. Set variously in the desert, in space, in deep space, and on the astral plane. Shot on location in Scotland, England, Arizona, and Utah. 8.75 x 11.75 inches. 20 pages, side stapled. Very Good, moderately rubbed, with faint soil and wear on the bottom right corner of the front wrapper. National Film Registry.
