About This Item

Amsterdam: Reflex New Art Gallery, 2005. Limited edition. Hardcover. Fine. 1/40. Small quarto. 104pp. Black cloth slipcase, and pink clamshell box. B/w photo-illustrated boards. Spine lettered in white and magenta, with original paper obi (belly band) as issued. Signed by Moriyama in black marker at the bottom of the title page. This is #29 from a highly limited edition of 40 copies, issued with an accompanying signed silver gelatin print, and a pink suede clamshell box. The print is signed in pencil and hand-numbered on the verso by the photographer, with a protective tissue guard, and housed in a black and pink paper folder laid in to the box. This copy comes with a custom slipcase housing the suede box.

This acclaimed photography book is illustrated with approximately 100 black & white photos of Tokyo's urban life & residents. "For Moriyama [Tokyo] represents his natural habitat and ultimate playground: the specific rhythm of the traffic, the tangible dynamic, the energy, and the infinite variety of people who endlessly stream over the side walks are hard to resist." (Maurice Feil).

A fine, as new copy. Suede box and book with obi both protected in mylar.
