Small, sturdy book, shiny blue cloth, spine very slightly slanted, dark blue at top front and spine, 246 stiffer very slightly browned pages, a frontispiece illustration and throughout. An ink birthday note dated 1944 at top of first front end paper. DJ glossy, a dark color-illustration of a horse race on front and spine, yellow along edges, white back is lightly browned with titles. DJ has tiny tear at spine top right edge, a micro-nick to spine bottom edge, a tiny tear at bottom back edge. Near Very Good DJ/Fair book.

Pages are moderately tanned with visible foxing throughout. Cracks to hinges, exposing netting. Slight crinkling to paper at gutters, however binding remains firm. Occasional dog-eared corners. Thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have heavy edge wear with corner bumping. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Fraying to spine edges. Heavy black marks and water staining to all surfaces. Book has a slight forward lean.
