Boards now protected by a new Brodart Archival Mylar Cover. Boards are dark green cloth with embossed gilt lettering on front and spine and light images of mountain tops on the front board. Boards and pages are mostly clean and unmarked (except for some small dark marks on page edges and four round red design marks near bottom of front board), bright, tightly bound and sharp cornered. Illustrations include tissue-protected frontispiece and 15 additional full-page drawings by Arthur Layard. Contains 357 pages of text, followed by a 16-page catalogue of other Longmans' published works of the time. This Canadian printing duplicates the US printing of the same date, the only differences being the copyright information, a "Printed in Canada" blurb on the front cover, and it is a little taller to accomodate a promotional banner on the front cover bottom edge. Includes Outlaw World, a Captain Future novel by Edmond Hamilton. Small split to spine bottom, less than the usual small edge tears, a VG+ to near fine copy. Back cover advertisement is for The Service Life Insurance Co.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good+ to Near Fine. Illus. by Earle Bergey (front cover).
