The author crossed the Atlantic in the 25- foot Vertue XXXV in 1950. This work gathers together information on nearly 100 similar voyages made in vessels 30 feet and under ranging from rafts to open boats or modern yachts. Includes 33 plates of photographs and route maps. Includes many unique and unusual crossings including the crossing by Howard Blackburn who has lost all his fingers in an earlier disaster, two men who rowed across, an amphibious Jeep crossing, and the race between two 30 ft yachts between Bermuda and Britain.
