About This Item
Hartford, CT: The American Publishing Company, 1900. Original cloth. Near Fine. True Williams. A surprisingly crisp, well-preserved copy of this early, 1900 reprint of Twain's immortal classic, which was first published (by the same publisher) in 1876. This copy, identical to the first edition in design and appearance, is tight and very solid in its deep-blue cloth, with bright gilt-design and crisp, completely unflecked gilt-titling along the front panel and spine. Minor bumping to the upper tips, light soiling along the rear panel and discrete former owner stamp at the dedication page. Still though, very presentable and, graded conservatively, a genuinely Near Fine copy. Octavo, the wonderful True Williams illustrations thruout are all pristine.
Synopsis
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain, is a popular 1876 novel about a young boy growing up in the antebellum South on the Mississippi River in the town of St. Petersberg, based on the town of Hannibal, Missouri.
